Google Chrome Extensions LIVE!
Dec 9th

Google are on fire this week in the news, bringing out new features to most of their tools. Google wave gets more invites and mac gets chrome… ahh yes chrome! Im here to announce that the unveiling of google chromes long awaited extensions are finally here.
Google Chrome for Mac just went live this morning, and now Google is announcing that the Google Chrome Extensions beta is open, and just being open for several hours it has seen more than 300 extensions already available and added for the public to use. Mac users, cannot however yet use them as the extensions only work for the Windows version of the Chrome browser. While you’ll no doubt notice that the 300 extensions available don’t match the quality and quantity of existing Firefox extensions. The one great advantage of the chrome extensions is that every time you install one you don’t have to restart the entire browser!! This i think is great, and is very useful to save reopening all your tabs again and wasting time!
The announcement that was posted on google is as follows, here is a snippet of it:
“Today, we’re really happy to release a beta of extensions that begins to deliver on our initial vision. Extensions are as easy to create as webpages. Users can install and uninstall them quickly without restart, and extensions have a great polished look that fits in with Google Chrome’s minimalist aesthetic. When developers upload an extension it is available to users immediately, with limited restrictions and manual reviews only in a few situations.”
Physical Amazon Stores Or Not?
Dec 7th

Alot of confusion is in the air as UK newspaper the Sunday times has published an article that states Amazon will be looking for “store locations in the UK as it looks to take its business into the physical realm” – This is interesting to move from online to physical stores, seeing as the world seems to be moving the opposite direction. Many shop are moving to the online option as it is so much easier and cheaper these days.
This statement is very confusing seeing as Amazon now deny all these plans, but what have they got to say?
Yesterday a report in The Sunday Times, said that the aim would be to make a model of Argos, which has seen success with online orders and in-store collection. This means that you could order your goods online but pick them up at a store instead of awaiting there delivery. This has become increasingly appealing as Amazon expands beyond small items like books, CDs and DVDs.
A spokesman for the group has now said that they have no plans to do this. But even though they say this wouldn’t it make it so much easier to allow customers to pick up items from local outlets? This could indeed significantly improve the experience of buying large items on Amazon.
What Do You Think? Would You Like To See This Change?
